Get Patching!

Any sysadmin worth his or her salt will know that the second Tuesday of each month is the traditional “Patch Tuesday” where Microsoft release security patches, updates, etc.  This month sees a record number of patches across all operating system platforms.  The average XP machines I have been patching today have required a whopping 17 updates this month, with Windows 7 being the smallest at 7.

So nothing earth shattering to report with this post, I just wanted to issue a reminder to everyone to run Windows Update, or approve your patches in WSUS.  Regardless of how you obtain your security fixes, be sure to get them this and every month!

Patched my Vista and 7 machines at home last night. Waiting for DCE boss to return to work to approve business WSUS updates as I am still not allowed to!
